How to grill Chicken

You can make grilling chicken quick and easy, as well as adding flavour by using your favourite seasonings. This guide will show you how to grill a chicken breast under a conventional grill.

  1. Start by butterflying the chicken breast. This involves laying the chicken flat and slicing it in half sideways, making sure you don't cut all the way through. You want to be able to open and close the chicken breast like a book (see video below on how to do this)! Butterflying the chicken will make it thinner so it'll cook quicker and it's more likely to cook through evenly.
  2. Brush a little oil over each side of the chicken and sprinkle your favourite seasoning over each side. BBQ seasoning tastes sublime on grilled chicken.
  3. Stick the chicken under a preheated grill (on the highest temperature) for between 5-6 minutes. After this time, flip the chicken over and grill for a further 5-6 minutes. Cooking times on grills vary so be sure to check the chicken is cooking to your liking on either side.
  4. Once each side has a nice char-grilled effect and it looks cooked, remove from the grill.
  5. Cut into the thickest part of the chicken to check there is no pink, and any juices run clear. Then your chicken is cooked and ready to eat.

Grilled chicken goes great on top of my Spanish Rice Recipe. Why not give it a try?
