How to make pasta without a machine

Making fresh pasta can be daunting, so instead of going to the expense of buying a machine, follow these directions to learn how to make pasta without a machine.

For this method, you’ll need 1 egg per 100g of flour. 100g flour mix will make 1 serving.

  1. Sieve 100g of ‘00’ flour into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Make a well in the middle of the flour then break in the egg.
  3. Fold the flour into the eggs using a folk then use your hands to make a dough. If the mixture begins to dry out, add a little bit of water at a time to help stick the ingredients together.
  4. Flour a clean work surface and knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until you’re left with a smooth, elastic ball of dough.
  5. Wrap in cling film and leave to rest for at least 30 minutes.
  6. After 30 minutes, roll the dough out as thinly as possible on a floured surface. Try to roll it as thinly as possible because it will expand when cooked.
  7. Then, make the pasta into shapes and leave to firm up for a further 30 minutes.
  8. When ready, cook the pasta in boiling water.
