How to Cook Steak

My cooking guide on cooking steak will explain how to cook a steak well done and rare. It isn't difficult to cook a steak to your liking - it's all in the timing.

How to cook steak well done

Heat up some oil in a pan over a medium heat on the hob. The idea of the steak going on a medium heat is that it'll cook evenly all the way through - which is what you want with a well done steak.

Be sure to keep an eye on the steak, flipping regularly whilst cooking. Depending on the thickness, it will probably take about 10 minutes for the steak to cook.

Once the pink has gone from the sides, top and bottom, cut into the steak and check it's cooked to your liking. Then it's ready to serve.

How to cook steak rare

To cook a steak rare so it's juicier, you need to cook it in a pan and over a high heat. The reason for a high heat is that it'll cook the outside of the steak a lot quicker than the inside - making the inside of your steak nice and juicy.

Cook with a little oil in a pan and flip regularly. Pay careful attention to ensure the steak does not overcook. When it looks ready (usually after about 5 minutes), cut into the steak and check it's nice and pink in the middle.

And that's how you cook a steak! Check out the video below to see how it's done.
