How long do you boil eggs

When boiling an egg, start with a saucepan and pour in enough boiling water from the kettle to cover your eggs. Bring the water up to boiling point, then put the heat down to a medium heat.

To keep the shell from cracking, really slowly lower in your egg. For a soft boiled egg you need to cook it for 4-5 minutes, for a medium egg 7 minutes, and for a hard-boiled egg for between 10 and 11 minutes.

Once you’ve boiled your egg for enough time, carefully remove it from the saucepan then run it under some cold water for about 30 seconds. This will make sure the egg stops cooking now we’ve removed it from the saucepan.

Stick your egg in an egg cup, line up those soldiers and enjoy. And quite simply, that is how you boil an egg. Check out my video demo below if you want to see how it’s done.
