Stonehaven Sauvignon Blanc Wine Review

Stonehaven Sauvignon Blanc Wine

Hi, and here is my first wine review for the Central England Cooperative We Like Wine Blog. My first review is for a lovely bottle of white Sauvignon Blanc wine from the Stovehaven Estate in South Africa. I always veer towards South African Wines, especially after the name of this one rang a bell after a recent trip to Cape Town in April. Stonehaven was one if the estates we visited as part of our jam-packed wine tasting tour!

With white wine, I find it’s easy to be disappointed if you go for a cheaper bottle. What impressed me most about Stonnehaven’s Sauvignon Blanc is that it’s only a few pounds above average in cost, but the quality is so much better than a lot of wines out there – making it a really great value for money bottle of wine.

Risotto RecipeServed chilled of course, I tried this with friends and we all found it was a very easy-drinker and feels nice and silky when drinking (with no vinegary after taste you get with some wines). Complimented with some lovely fruity notes, it was also reasonably mild. For this reason, I think this wine would go great with my Summer Risotto Recipe because the flavours from the wine will compliment those in the dish, as opposed to fighting against them.

It’s a shame I’m writing this review in the winter because I know this Sauvignon Blanc would taste sublime on a hot summers day, laying on a deck chair in the garden!

To summarise, Stonehaven have made a lovely fresh, light and fruity Sauvignon Blanc from the Cape Point Vineyards region. Currently coming it at £7.99 per bottle, it’s great value for money and is perfect if you’re after a wine to accompany a big meal or a few courses - because it’s nice and refreshing and light, whilst still delivering on flavour.
