Les Pionniers Champagne Brut Review

Les Pinniers Champagne ReviewNow, I must admit since getting engaged last year I have developed quiet the taste for fizz! What can I say, there always seems to be a reason to celebrate on the lead up to a wedding! With that said (and in case you haven’t guessed yet) I’ll be reviewing the Les Pionniers Champagne which is specially selected for the Co-op. This is in aid of the Central England Co-Operative’s “We like Wine” blog.

This Brut is a blend of Pinot Noir (70%), Pinot Meunier (20%) and Chardonnay (10%) and is 12% in strength. It’s quiet a mild champagne, however, it is fruity at the same time. So whilst the flavours may not burst through on the pallet, the subtle notes can be appreciated in a more refined way.

The Les Pionniers is a little more bitter, or ‘tart’ than other champagnes which I feel positively adds to the overall experience when drinking.

So, what would this go well with? I agree with the label that suggests it would accompany fish and white meats perfectly. I also feel cheeses and canapés (especially prawn canapés) would be a great food to enjoy with the champagne.

Mackerel and Salmon CanapesMy Mackerel and Salmon canapés recipe would accompany this very well, possibly experimenting with white fish meats instead.

It was great value around the £20 mark, so for that reason I really like it for its price and how easy it is to drink. Of course, enjoy this once completely chilled to get the most out of it.

In conclusion, I’ll certainly consider getting some bottles of this for the wedding toast in July! It’s a great easy drinker that can be enjoyed to celebrate all manner of occasions – whether it’s tying or not, or raising a toast to the latest dog to win Britain’s got Talent!

Enjoy!
